Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can move up from the soil and into homes, including those with crawl spaces. Testing is the only way to know whether it is present in your home, and the right test depends on your home's layout.
We install radon and soil vapor mitigation systems in crawl spaces across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. A sealed liner covers the ground, a vent pipe collects the gas from under it, and a fan carries it through a pipe to a safe place outside.
What you get
A tightly sealed barrier lets the system draw gas from beneath it.
A pipe and an inline fan move gas from under the liner to the outside.
Gaps and openings that would let gas enter the home are closed.
We recommend a radon test before and after mitigation so you know it is working.
The process
A radon test shows whether mitigation is needed and how to design it.
The liner, vent pipe and fan are installed and sealed.
A follow-up test confirms that levels have come down.
FAQ
No. Levels vary from home to home, even on the same street, so testing is the only way to know.
Radon test kits are available at hardware stores and from labs, and professionals can test as well. Follow the instructions for the correct placement.
Sealing can help but is not a substitute for mitigation if levels are high. A vent pipe and fan are what actively remove the gas.
