Crawl Space Insulation

Insulation in a crawl space has a harder job than in an attic. It faces humidity, condensation and sometimes water. Fiberglass between the joists often sags, gets wet and stops working, which leaves floors cold and wood exposed to moisture.

We insulate crawl spaces across Nashville and Middle Tennessee, choosing between the floor above and the crawl space walls depending on whether the space is vented or sealed. Moisture and air are dealt with first so the new insulation can do its job.

FAQ

Common questions about crawl space insulation

Should I insulate the floor or the walls?

In a vented crawl space, insulation usually goes in the floor above. In a sealed crawl space, it goes on the walls. We recommend what suits your space.

Why does fiberglass fall down?

Moisture, weight and pests can pull it off its supports. Once it sags it loses its value, which is why moisture control matters.

Will insulation fix a damp crawl space?

No. Insulation does not stop moisture, so it works best after the ground cover and drainage are in place.
