Crawl Space Vent Sealing

Foundation vents were built on the idea that moving air would dry a crawl space. In a humid climate like Tennessee's, they often do the opposite, letting warm, damp summer air in where it cools and condenses on cool surfaces.

We seal foundation vents on homes in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee with rigid insulated panels fitted to each opening, sealed on all edges and finished so they are tidy from the outside as well as airtight on the inside.

What you get

Done right, from the first walk-through

01

Cut-to-fit rigid panels

Each vent opening is measured and closed with an insulated panel made to fit.

02

Sealed on every edge

Foam sealant or tape closes the gaps so there are no leaks around the panel.

03

Tidy exterior finish

Panels are installed so the exterior of the foundation still looks clean.

04

Part of a bigger plan

Vent sealing is paired with a ground liner and humidity control for lasting results.

The process

How your service comes together

  1. 1

    Check the vents

We count and measure vents, check for pests and look at what the space needs besides sealing.

  2. 2

    Fit and seal

Panels are cut, fitted and sealed in each opening.

  3. 3

    Test and review

We check for air leaks, look at the moisture picture and explain the next steps.

FAQ

Common questions about vent sealing

Is it safe to close crawl space vents?

It is safe when the space is also dealt with for moisture, with a ground liner and humidity control. Closing vents alone on a wet crawl space is not enough, so we look at the whole picture first.

Do I need to open the vents in summer?

No. Opening vents in humid weather tends to make things worse, not better. A sealed, dehumidified space stays steadier all year.

What about combustion appliances?

If a gas appliance or flue is in the crawl space, we plan for safe air supply and venting. Tell us about it when you call.
